1. Beijing’s Two Main Airports
Beijing Capital International Airport
Beijing Capital Airport is located in the northeast of Beijing. It is convenient for destinations such as Chaoyang District, Dongzhimen, Sanyuanqiao, Sanlitun, and many embassy and business areas.
Beijing Daxing International Airport
Beijing Daxing Airport is located in the south of Beijing. It is a newer airport and can be convenient for southern Beijing, Beijing West Railway Station, and some high-speed rail connections.
2. Option One: Airport Express Train
Airport express trains are usually the fastest and most predictable way to reach the city, especially during rush hours.
From Beijing Capital Airport
The Capital Airport Express connects the airport with subway stations such as Sanyuanqiao and Dongzhimen.
- Good for: Sanyuanqiao, Dongzhimen, Sanlitun, Chaoyang, embassy areas
- Approximate fare: 25 RMB
- Typical journey time: about 30–40 minutes to the city connection area
- Useful transfers: Subway Line 10, Line 2, and Line 13
From Beijing Daxing Airport
The Daxing Airport Express connects Daxing Airport with the city subway system, commonly via Caoqiao Station.
- Good for: southern Beijing, Caoqiao, subway transfers, Beijing West Railway Station area
- Approximate fare: usually 10–35 RMB, depending on distance
- Business class may cost more
- Fast and useful if you do not have too much luggage
3. Option Two: Taxi
A taxi is often the easiest choice if you have luggage, arrive late, feel tired, or are traveling directly to a hotel or hospital.
After arrival, follow signs for the official taxi queue. Avoid drivers who approach you inside the terminal and offer private rides without using the official taxi area.
- Good for: tired travelers, families, medical travelers, heavy luggage
- Payment: cash, Alipay, WeChat Pay, or sometimes card depending on the taxi
- Prepare your destination address in Chinese
- Ask for a receipt if you need reimbursement
4. Option Three: Ride-Hailing Apps
Ride-hailing apps such as Didi are widely used in China. They can be convenient, but airport pickup points may be difficult for first-time visitors to find.
If you do not speak Chinese, airport ride-hailing pickup areas can be confusing. A driver may call you to confirm the exact location.
- Good for: visitors who already know how to use Chinese apps
- May require Alipay, WeChat Pay, or app payment
- Pickup points may be far from the arrival hall
- Not ideal if you are tired, sick, or carrying many bags
5. Option Four: Airport Bus
Airport buses connect airports with different parts of Beijing. They are usually cheaper than taxis, but slower than airport express trains.
Buses may be useful if the route stops near your hotel. However, for first-time visitors, train or taxi is usually easier.

A private transfer or hotel pickup is usually the most comfortable option, especially after a long international flight.
It can be useful if you:

Before landing, save your hotel, hospital, or apartment address in Chinese. English addresses may not be enough for taxi drivers or local staff.

9. Payment Tips
Beijing is highly digital. Alipay and WeChat Pay are widely used, but first-time visitors should still carry some RMB cash as backup.
